Would a white bouquet look weird with an ivory gown?

I was originally planning to have a white gown and a bouquet of calla lillies, which are my favorite flower. However, the dress i fell in love with and purchased is in a color called "light gold" which is basically an ivory thats a tad darker than traditional ivory. I still really want white callas. Also the guys will have ivory shirts and white mini calla bouteniers, and the flower girls will have ivory dresses and possibly a posy of mini callas. The lady at the flower shop told me they'd look fine but she may have just been trying to make a sale. What do you think, would white flowers and ivory clothing look odd? Also, should the ring bearer then have an ivory pillow to match his shirt, or a white one to match the flowers? Would it look weird if he wore a white boutenier and carried an ivory pillow?

I love calla lillies too and don't think they will look bad at all with a light gold dress especially since you'll have the greenery as well.





The ring bearer's pillow should probably match his shirt since they will be held up against each other.





My dress will also be light gold and the person making my cake told me that I should not have a white cake because my dress would look 'dirty' beside the cake in pictures. Given that she has more experience with weddings than I do, I'm taking her advice and doing an ivory cake with little white decorations. Just thought you might want to consider that when choosing your cake.
Reply:I would not use white on ivory. white next to ivory will make the ivory look dingy. white will be eye catching and the first thing eyes will be attracted to. You don't want anything to take away from your wedding dress. Flowers should compliment your gown not be the focus of attention.Think about your pictures to. Could the white calla lillies be sprayed cream with a little filler flower accenting the bouque with some color?.......with ribbon matching the filler flowers wrapped around the stems and cream color pearl push pins holding the ribbon in place.

Reply:It won't look weird- what I suggest is using a filler flower in a color that will also compliment your ivory dress.

With foliage the bouquet will not be all white.
Reply:I am having a champagne dress- so i can relate to the white problem. Why don't you tie the flowers with an ivory ribbon? This would pull the dress and the flowers together.

Reply:I don't think it would look odd if you added another color in the bouquet as an accent color. Burgandy or blue would look beautiful. If you don't add a bright color in somewhere, you might end up looking a little washed out. Good luck!
Reply:The problem isn't how it looks in person. It will look beautiful as calla lillies are a gorgeous flower and the colors go quite well together, especially with the greenery.





However the problem is in the photography. When photographing white on ivory, the flowers blend into the dress and in the pictures it is difficult to tell where one ends and the other begins.
Reply:I think a little color would add to your bouquet too, besides the greenery. The ringbearer's pillow should match his shirt in my opinion.
