My boyfriend bought me a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of roses for valentines day....?

and Im going to be sad when they die. I would really like to preserve them somehow but I dont want to squish them, just dry them out. I also dont want the petals to fall off. I heard that if you spray hairspray on them it will help, but I dont want to mess them up. Anyone have any suggestions?

Silica Gel

Silica gel can be found in most garden centers, nurseries, florist, or hobby shops. It absorbs moisture from flowers rapidly, thus preserving flower color better than other drying methods. Most flowers will dry in 36 to 48 hours.

This link will give you several methods but I think the silica gel will work best.

PS I think it's reusable.

It's that little bag that comes in the bottom of packed items such medicines over the counter etc.

It's a moisture absorbing agent.
Reply:I just asked a question like this, except it was just about one rose (lol, remind you of beauty and the beast?) and somebody said that i should put an aspirin in the vase and it helps loads.
Reply:I THINK YES..........
Reply:just let them die...it's a part of life....they were living at one point
Reply:dried/pressed flowers can be very beautiful. google it
Reply:I always hang mine upside down. I've never used hairspray on them. They have held up for years.
Reply:hang them upside down somewhere, thay will dry out very anturally and keep their shape.
Reply:There is a product called silica gel that you can preserve them with. You can purchase it through florists and craft stores.

There are directions on the container, but you have to basically place the whole flowers in the gel to dry them out and they will still retain the way they look now.

Your boyfriend sounds like a keeper and a sweet guy.

Have a good day.
Reply:bragger!!!
Reply:Try calling a flower shop, maybe they can suggest something helpful for you. They are specialist in this field.
Reply:Add an aspirin or 7 up to the water. When they start to die, hang them upside down and let them dry-they will be beautiful. My husband brings me roses a lot and I have "saved everyone" this way.
Reply:Eh I've had bad experience with the hair spray, just hang them upside down to dry and it works wonderfully, my fiance has everyone of our flowers since we started dating dried that way.
Reply:freeze them or u can put a twig neer the long part so it looks like it is still up
Reply:Eat all the roses one by one thinking about the love of your bf.
Reply:He should of put one fake rose in there so at least one of them would never die.
Reply:spray them with max hold hair spray, then hang them upside down in the freezer it will preserve them perfectly
Reply:When I dry flowers, I hand them upside down in a cool place. Now I know that hydranga blooms can be preserved by placing them in a large container, upside down the slowly pour SILICA sand (probably can buy at any hardware store or home depot) to cover the blooms. It slowly pulls the moisture out and dries them without changing the color. You might call a florist and ask if that can be done.
Reply:I think you are supposed to hang them upside down to dry them... but I had some where I didn't do that I just let them dry in the vase and they were fine, but the stems aren't straight anymore they kinda picked a side to droop to but its not too bad. I would say hang them upside down until they are dried because they turn out better.
Reply:freeze them
Reply:put them in the pages of a thick book that means something to you, then check on them ion like 3 or 4 months.
Reply:Put a jar filled with water cut the tip of the stem vetically and put it n it works a week
Reply:Hang them upside down to help them retain their shape, then you can have a dried bouquet to arrange. No hairspray needed.
